Graduation Initiatives For Campus Partners

The Degree Completion Team supports student success by partnering with faculty and staff to identify and assist students facing barriers to retention, progression, and graduation. This page provides an overview of our services and tools available to help you support students effectively.

Our Approach: Collaborative and Data-Informed

We use a proactive, data-informed, and student-centered approach to identify and support students who may be experiencing academic or administrative challenges. Our work is collaborative and designed to complement the efforts of faculty, advisors, and student services staff to ensure students stay on track.

The team proactively:

  • Monitors the academic progress of FTIC and UHin4 cohort students to identify trends and barriers.
  • Uses a coordinated care model as a framework to guide outreach and interventions.
  • Reaches out to students with personalized support and resources.
  • Coordinates workshops and events to address common barriers to graduation.

Peer Assistant Leaders | Peer Success Coaching

PALs are trained student leaders who extend the reach of the Degree Completion Team by providing peer-to-peer support. They help students:

  • Navigate university systems and resources.
  • Stay engaged and motivated through personalized outreach.
  • Connect with academic and wellness services.

PALs play a key role in fostering a sense of belonging and accountability, especially for students who may be hesitant to seek help from staff or faculty.

Student Outreach Services

Using data from Navigate and other platforms, we identify students who are facing academic or personal challenges.
In collaboration with faculty, the UH LAUNCH Learning Center, and college partners, we coordinate early alert campaigns through Navigate. These campaigns allow us to connect students with academic support early in the term.
Outreach to students who have not enrolled for an upcoming term to identify barriers and support re-enrollment.
Guidance for students navigating academic standing concerns, including strategies for recovery and success. UHin4 students benefit from a structured Academic Recovery Program.
Personalized reminders for key academic milestones and deadlines, with referrals to advising, financial aid, and academic support.
Timely follow-up on referrals from faculty, staff, or students to assess academic concerns and address barriers to graduation.
We monitor the academic progress of First-Time-In-College (FTIC) and UHin4 students to identify trends and barriers, and we provide college partners with actionable insights to support timely interventions.
