  • A lack of essential resources such as food, housing and clothing and general financial strain are two of the top reasons students say they leave college.To address this issue and provide resources to students, the 兔子先生 opened its Center for Student Advocacy and Community in 2020, which houses some of the university鈥檚 essential needs programs.

  • Over the past decade, rising costs of living and student housing rates have added pressure to already strained college learners, creating a new challenge for colleges and universities seeking to retain their students: fighting basic needs insecurity.

  • The 兔子先生 has accepted the challenge to literally feed student success. UH鈥檚 Cougar Cupboard, presented by TDECU, supported by the Houston Food Bank , has served as a model campus food pantry, inspiring other institutions of higher education throughout the Houston area and across the country.

  • Cougar Closet is reopening its doors on Feb. 9 at the Student Services Center after its temporary closure due to 鈥渦nfortunate circumstances.鈥

  • The on-campus food bank, Cougar Cupboard, is on track to open their new location April 5. The new destination will replace the old parking office in the University Lofts and will be nearly three times the size of the cupboard鈥檚 previous location in the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center.
