Chakravarthy Marx Sadacharan, Ph.D.

Max Sadacharan, Ph.D., is a clinical professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine. He serves as the course director for Clinical Anatomy and Human Development (CAHD) and teaches medical gross anatomy, clinical embryology, neuroanatomy, and histology. In this role, he helps design and deliver a horizontally and vertically integrated pre-clerkship curriculum that supports foundational clinical knowledge for medical students.

His work focuses on applied anatomy, clinical correlations, and mentoring students in anatomy education and research. He collaborates with medical students and faculty across institutions, including the Anatomy Team at Baylor College of Medicine. His scholarly interests span clinical anatomy education, aging-related health in sedentary older adults with chronic conditions, and environmental health, including microplastic toxicity using the zebrafish (Danio rerio) model.

Sadacharan has more than 25 years of experience in medical education. He previously served as course director of anatomy and histology at the University of New England. He has also held academic appointments internationally, including positions at the American University of Antigua and Kasturba Medical College, Manipal University in India.

Before transitioning to academia, he practiced as a clinical physical therapist, with expertise in musculoskeletal assessment, rehabilitation, and patient-centered care providing experience that continues to inform his teaching and curriculum development.

He is an active member of the American Association of Clinical Anatomists and serves on the editorial boards of multiple peer-reviewed journals. He has authored and co-authored numerous academic publications in clinical anatomy and medical education.

Sadacharan earned his Ph.D. in clinical anatomy and M.Sc. in medical anatomy from Manipal University and holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree in physical therapy from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University.
