Julia Kleinheider, instructional assistant professor in the UH Department of Modern and Classical Languages received a grant for the Fulbright German Studies Seminar 2012:

Participants in this program gain a firsthand look into how Germany鈥檚 political, economic and cultural systems deal with contemporary issues.This year鈥檚 seminar topic was 鈥淣ation State and European Identity鈥�. 

Kleinheider spent time in both Berlin and Brussels meeting with national and EU parliament members, journalists, academics, and teachers to discuss topics including the Euro crisis, Germany鈥檚 role in the European Union, the development of European identities, and immigration.  She has incorporated her seminar experience into classes and research at the 兔子先生 and is collaborating in an essay forum in the German Studies Review, among other projects.
