
The speech-language pathology master鈥檚 program has advanced in the U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate Schools rankings for the second consecutive year, climbing to No. 39 nationwide.
The program jumped five spots from its No. 44 ranking last year.
鈥淲e have high-quality clinical training throughout the program including our University Speech-Language-Hearing clinic on campus, community partnerships and over 50 externship sites in the Houston area,鈥 said Margaret Blake, chair of the communication sciences and disorders department.
Blake highlighted the program鈥檚 clinical educators and research faculty as key strengths.
鈥淥ur amazing clinical educators guide student clinicians in developing clinical skills, and faculty are nationally and internationally recognized for their research,鈥 she said. 鈥淭hrough our excellence in teaching, scholarship and service to the community, we are increasing access to efficient communication.鈥
U.S. News & World Report compiles its annual rankings based partly on assessments from peer institutions. Blake views the improved ranking as recognition of the program鈥檚 comprehensive strengths.
鈥淭his ranking indicates programs across the country are recognizing our department and master鈥檚 program鈥檚 strengths in all facets,鈥 said Blake.
